Believe you can and you're half way there. - Theodore Roosevelt

Welcome to Wednesday!

If you hear. "Can you speak English?"

Answer: "Yes!" or "Yes, a little."

When I was a child, there was one word I was not allowed to say.  My father would always correct me.  I was not allowed to say can't.  When I said can't, he would stop me and correct me.  I believed I could do anything!

Brain science shows us that when we say can't, our brain believes it is not possible.  Be careful.

If you feel your English is not quite good enough, or you would like to stay humble, here are some phrases you can use (without saying can't):

  • "I am learning English now."
  • "I am trying to become fluent."
  • "I am not fluent yet, but I am working on it."
  • "I am doing my best."
  • "Little by little my English is getting better."

You can do it!
